Bowers needs microfracture surgery?

One of the biggest topics of this year’s NFL Draft (besides, you know, will these guys even have a rookie season?) has been the knee of Clemson DE Da’Quan Bowers. At one point a few months ago, some had him projected to go No. 1 overall.

There has been absolutely none of that talk recently. In fact, due to concerns about his balky knee, some draftniks have him slipping out of the first round entirely.

And while Pro Football Weekly draft guru Nolan Nawrocki isn’t in charge of any of the 32 teams that could pull the trigger on his selection, he does spend a good amount of time talking to the people who have the power to pull the trigger.

And, according to Nawrocki, many in the league are concerned that Bowers might need microfracture surgery. And if you know anything about that procedure, you know it’s far from certain that he’ll recover 100%.

And that little bit that could be lost could be the difference between being a monster in the NFL or being just a guy.

We’ll see what happens. Bowers is scheduled to go back to Indianapolis to get re-evaluated.
