U.S. doesn’t get World Cup, Obama says it was “wrong decision”
The United States will not be hosting a World Cup any time soon. And if you are a statistic, then you won’t ever see a World Cup in the United Stated in your lifetime.
The 2018 World Cup will be played in Russia, provided that it is still called that. And that is also provided that other countries will be allowed to enter the country to play soccer. With that country, you just never know. Hell, by 2018, China could have moved in.
But, we still have 2022, right? Nope. Someone must have thought that we really need to throw Qatar a bone. Qatar? Really? Because playing soccer in the Persian Gulf in June sounds like fun? Christ. What are the players going to drink at halftime? Sand?
Of course, President Obama called the move to not give the U.S. a World Cup the “wrong decision.” He’s the president, what else is he going to say? This is the guy that thought bringing the Olympics to Chicago was a good idea. Cities lose money on that crap, but the entire country would have profited off of the World Cup. Maybe he thought we had a chance to get the 2011 World Cup so we could get the economy turned around. Did anyone tell him there is no 2011 World Cup? He’s a basketball fan, he wouldn’t know.
Here we go! The so-called "democratic" United States criticising a democratic decision just because the result didn't suit them. Talk about sore losers! FIFA made a decision based upon the information available to them and the decision was made by voting – a democratic and open process. Americans should stop being sore losers and instead just accept that their bid, even with Clinton there, wasn't enough to sway those who voted.
Unfortunately US did not pay the right price for the 2022 bid, it will be a fun world cup in Qatar! A tiny boring country, nothing like the famous Dubai in UAE, the worrying bit is political instability, we heard in September that the emir was shot at with his guards…
