Dice-K blames the Red Sox for shoulder woes

Boston Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, who is currently on the 15-day DL with shoulder problems, blames the Red Sox for his arm troubles. The Red Sox think it’s the World Baseball Classic that screwed him up, but he says it’s their training methods.

“If I’m forced to continue to train in this environment, I may no longer be able to pitch like I did in Japan,” Matsuzaka told a Japanese media outlet. “The only reason why I managed to win games during the first and second years (in the U.S.) was because I used the savings of the shoulder I built up in Japan. Since I came to the Major Leagues, I couldn’t train in my own way, so now I’ve lost all those savings.”

He says it’s because the Red Sox won’t let him practice nagekomi, a specific training method. We don’t know what that is, but if it’s like bukakke, we’re all for it.

We’re sure management is going to love these most recent comments. Especially when he had an ERA of 8.54 before hitting the Mark Prior List.
